Or, is it pure marketing?
The price difference is easy to see. What’s behind it deserves a closer look.

A higher price doesn’t automatically mean better rosehip oil.
Biome’s rosehip oil is 100% pure, cold-pressed and $44.95 per 100ml. So what justifies paying more?
Quick answer: Is all rosehip oil the same?
No. Rosehip oils can differ in extraction method, plant species, organic certification and whether they contain other ingredients. But a higher price alone doesn’t prove better quality. Compare those details alongside the price per 100ml before deciding whether it’s worth paying more.
Why does rosehip oil vary so much in price?
A smaller price on the shelf doesn’t always mean better value. A $27 bottle containing 25ml costs $108 per 100ml. Biome’s 100ml bottle costs $44.95. Compare the same quantity before deciding which is cheaper.
To calculate the price per 100ml, divide the price by the bottle’s volume in millilitres, then multiply by 100.
But price is only part of the comparison. Certification, sourcing, extraction and packaging can also contribute to the price.
What are you actually paying extra for?
Before spending more, compare:
- The ingredients: Is it 100% rosehip oil, or a blend containing other oils? If both contain 100% rosehip oil, a higher price doesn’t mean a purer formula.
- The extraction: Is it cold-pressed, or extracted using another method? Look for a clear explanation. If both are cold-pressed, that feature alone doesn’t explain the extra cost.
- The certification: Certified organic is a separate distinction from purity. Decide whether it’s worth the extra to you.
- The quantity: Compare the price per 100ml. A smaller bottle can hide a much higher unit price.
- Packaging and freshness: Will the packaging protect the oil, and can you use the quantity within its recommended shelf life?
“Premium” on the label doesn’t explain why an oil costs more. Biome offers 100% pure, cold-pressed rosehip oil for $44.95 per 100ml. If a more expensive bottle has a certification or another difference you value, factor that in. Otherwise, why pay extra simply for the brand name?

Frequently asked questions
Is pure rosehip oil the same as organic rosehip oil?
No. “Pure” describes the contents: rosehip oil without other added ingredients. “Certified organic” means it meets the requirements of an organic certification scheme. A rosehip oil can be 100% pure without being certified organic.
Is rosehip seed oil the same as rosehip oil?
Rosehip seed oil is extracted from the seeds inside the rosehip fruit. “Rosehip oil” is a broader product name, so check whether the manufacturer specifies seed oil, fruit oil or a combination when comparing products.
Is a bigger bottle of rosehip oil better value?
It can cost less per millilitre, but only represents better value if you use it within the recommended period after opening. Compare the unit price, check the storage instructions and choose a quantity that suits your routine.
