Australian Soaps

If you are looking for a natural and eco-friendly alternative to conventional soap, you might want to try natural Australian soaps. A natural Australian soap is made from plant oils that are rich in moisturising and nourishing properties for your skin. Unlike many commercial soaps, the Australian soaps you find at Biome contain:

  • no petrochemicals
  • no palm oil
  • no synthetic fragrances or colours
  • no synthetic preservatives that can dry out or irritate your skin.

Soap made in Australia is also better for the environment as it reduces the carbon emissions from shipping soap made overseas to Australia.  And because all our soaps are free from palm oil, you are helping to reduce the demand for palm oil that contributes to deforestation, habitat loss, and the extinction of species like orangutans.

By choosing Australian soaps, you are supporting local businesses and farmers who produce high-quality ingredients for your soap. There is wonderful creativity among Australian soap makers. Whether you want a refreshing citrus soap, a soothing lavender soap or a detoxifying charcoal soap, there is an Australian soap for you.

What ingredients to avoid in Australian soaps?

Check the ingredients on the back and if the soap contains palm oil, please avoid. Often it is listed as Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Palm Acid, Vegetable Oil, and Glycerin.

There is no need to use palm oil to make soaps other than it is a low cost ingredient for the producer. Brands such as Australian Botanical Soaps are based on palm oil, which is a highly devastating ingredient grow in remote, precious rainforest areas of Asia and Africa. There is no such thing as sustainable palm oil because there is not a reliable certification scheme for what is sustainable.

Choose instead palm oil free brands such as the Australian Natural Soap Company.

Another ingredients to avoid in soap is Fragrance (will always be synthetic and not good for you).
