Sasawashi Bath Mat (45cm x 65cm)

Created by blending Washi paper with kumazasa fibres, these bathmats are a joyful and functional addition to any home. Kumazasa is naturally antibacterial and when combined with Washi paper, the resulting fabric becomes soft and durable, absorbing twice as much water as a plain cotton. 

The antibacterial nature of the fabric prevents unpleasant odours and brings cleanliness into your home, keeping water from the floor and staying crisp all the while. With an acrylic anti-slip backing, you can step out in confidence. 

These mats can also be used in other aspects of the home, such as a door mat, pet mat, even a car seat protector, keeping out the heat for long drives. The fabric does not produce lint, making it easy to clean and maintain, as well as being machine-washable. 

SASAWASHI fabric is made by blending Kumazasa fibres; grown in the cool highlands of Japan, with Washi paper. Washi is strong, durable and water-resistant used in traditional Shoji slidding doors keeping homes cool in summer and warm in winter. A sheet of these blended fibres is then slit into long strings of yarn, twisted together to machine weave or knit SASAWASHI yarn and fabric.
